Reflecting on 2025: A Year of Hope and Healing
As we look back on 2025, we are humbled by the journey Wings and Wishes has
shared with so many families. This year, we funded 1,586 trips for children to access
expert medical care — each one a story of courage, resilience, and love.
Our first trip of the year took place on 7 January, when little Luhlelo traveled from East
London to Red Cross Hospital for life-saving cardiac surgery. Our final journey will be on
23 December, when Tameeqa returns home after treatment, ready to celebrate
Christmas surrounded by family.
Throughout the year, we celebrated victories: successful surgeries, the completion of
treatments, and the gift of a new lease on life after transplants. We also stood alongside
parents in moments of anguish and uncertainty, waiting for diagnoses, and lovingly
supported those beginning the path of palliative care.
For us, it is a profound privilege to ease the burden of travel so that parents can focus
entirely on their child’s health. We hold firmly to our belief that transport should never
be a barrier to any child reaching expert medical care.
Thanks to the unwavering support of our loyal partners, we were able to respond to
every request we received. Together, we have made a difference — one trip, one child,
one family at a time.
