After Caitlyn’s mom shared a heartfelt plea for help on social media, an outpouring of
compassion followed. Many reached out to Wings and Wishes, asking us to step in and
support the family during this incredibly difficult time.
Caitlyn is very ill and urgently needed cardiac surgery. Upon admission in Cape Town,
her journey took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with COVID-19, forcing
her surgery to be postponed to Monday, 6 April.
On that day, Caitlyn underwent a long and complex nine-hour operation. During the
procedure, she received a heart valve replacement and was fitted with a pacemaker.
It has been an incredibly challenging road, but also one filled with courage, resilience,
and hope.
Caitlyn continues to fight, surrounded by love and the strength of a
community standing behind her.
