Araya lives in Richards Bay. For the past 4 years she has traveled monthly to Durban for a blood transfusion. Thus far Wings & Wishes funded 46 return trips!

She suffers from thalassemia –  an inherited blood disorder characterised by less oxygen-carrying protein (haemoglobin) and fewer red blood cells in the body than normal. It causes tiredness, yellowish skin, dark urine, abdominal swelling, and facial bone deformities. There is no cure for my illness

Her mom says, watching your child go through tears, needles and pain is every parent’s nightmare.

But 4 years later I can tell you, only your child can teach you how to be strong. Because when you look into those crying eyes and all you want to do is cry, but you hold back and say wow you are such a strong and brave little girl, and I am so proud of you. That is the moment you realise how grateful you are for this little girl that God placed in your heart to forever carry and care for.
