Matthew_learns_to_eat

Matthew has been dependent on receiving all nutrition through a feeding tube since he was a baby.

He was born with a very rare syndrome and had 11 major operations before he was 5 months old. As he had machines in his throat for so much of his life, Matthew was unable to suck, so a gastrostomy tube was inserted directly into his stomach for feeding purposes. Matthew never gained the reflux to suck or to eat.

Jo anne found out about the feeding clinic in Graz, and Wings and Wishes paid for their air tickets. They have recently returned from their trip, and we received this letter of thanks from Joanne.

’Dear Zaaida, Verena and all those who helped with our tickets,

I feel like I have hit the ground running since we returned from Austria – all been a bit of a rollercoaster ride really! The most fabulous news of all is that Matthew is now off his feeding tube – has been for over 3 weeks, and is sustaining himself on the food he eats, which is just WONDERFUL!

The clinic in Austria lived up to all its expectations and I am thrilled with what Matthew is achieving. I have updated his website again with more pictures www.matthewourmiracle.weebly.com and will continue to do so, so you can see his progress.

Thank you so much, again, for your very generous contribution of our tickets. Your kindness is just amazing and Mark and I are so truly grateful – thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was certainly a trip of a lifetime and we were so fortunate to be able to get our little man across the seas for this help!

Was lovely chatting to you Verena – thank you for your call…

Sending you ALL my love and appreciation…

LOTS of love
Joanne
